Insight Review of ‘In Direct Communication’
Insight Review
Unknown Component
Unknown Component a one man band from Iowa who has been hitting big on a remarkable underground level with an almost unbelievable lack of advertising or corporate sponsorship. Using almost prophetic and equally poetic lyrics with a more mild tone, Unknown Component’s latest release, “In Direct Communication” is a perfect balance on the market today, with such heavier and over-hyped releases like Disturbed’s “Indestructible” and Metallica’s “…And Justice for All.“ With over seven listed albums, including a volume of unreleased songs and their next album “Separately Connected,“ this indie band has definitely been hard at work ever since it hit the scene in Iowa City.
Leading this band is front man, Keith Lynch, a man with a knack for an extensive amount of musical and production abilities that include: singing, guitar, piano, drums, song writing, and making all concept and cover art for album releases. There is a wide variety of distortion and reverberation used throughout the various tracks on “in Direct Communication,“ as well as a few well organized shifts in tone and style throughout the album, giving it an interesting feeling that will appeal to the more casual music fans out there.
Of their latest album, some of the best songs, including personal favorites include tracks such as: “It’s a Fine Line,“ “Somewhere A Light Has Gone Out,“ and “Never Ceases to Remain Unchanged.“ Many of their songs from their many albums area also available for download on their website at http://unknowncomponent.com/.
