The Big Takeover Review of ‘In Direct Communication’

The press release said it’s a mix of Elliott Smith (another one!) and Charles Bukowski. Though in fact, it sounds, at times, much like Oasis with a touch of Green Day’s Billie Joe more than any Smith comparison, and the lyrics aren’t cynical enough to warrant a Bukowski comparison. That being said, it’s still a pretty decent album. The lyrics are rather poetic and the folk/rock music is fine in it’s simplicity and flows rather easily, though the vocals are limited. Some songs bring this folk/rock album to life even if a few others fall flat. It is consistently inconsistent, but it shows definite promise.
