Everything At Once Is Nothing All the Time
In Descending Circles
You give and you take away, so good at playing games
A chess piece carved of bone, can cut through a wall of stone
Words you’ve never known, their meanings decompose
I say it’s lame, it’s just another way for you to stay the same
I say it’s strange, it’s always been that way and it’ll never change
On a ship at sea no anchor to release, you’re out to overcome the power of the sun
Nature proved to be too strong to disagree
To Be Complete
What makes us feel at home, is it the way we feel we couldn’t go wrong
What makes us feel so strong, is it the way we push ourselves along
I can’t keep walking, I can’t keep talking to be what I need to be, complete
I can’t keep trying, I can’t keep dying to be what I need to be, complete
What makes us what we know, is it the light from above or down below
What makes us wanna grow, is it the light from above or down below
What have we got to show for all of the pain and the hurt that we have known
A picture painted on a stone, a memory of a moment from long ago
I Can’t Compete
When I crossed the largest sea, I looked for land and a place to breathe
You were there with all who seeked the means to make believe
Why do you challenge me, when you know that I can’t compete
Like a dog left to the streets, I’ll come home it you wait for me
In the cold and in the heat, two extremes can never meet
In the church you seek relief, but relief it don’t come for free
In your life you seek the peace but the peace don’t come for free
In the shadows of your dreams, you can look but you can’t be seen
In the mirrors and magazines, you can look but you can’t be seen
If This, Then That
You wake up unable to breathe, your day begins on caffeine and you can’t stop your suffering
Down the stairs and out the street, your mind keeps on wandering
and you can’t stop this suffering
Just calm down
sometimes I
Just calm down
The bills are paid and the car’s been cleaned
The beds been made and the trash emptied
but you can’t stop this suffering
Your presentation didn’t go as planned
and in the office the fire was fanned
but you can’t stop this suffering
You wonder why you’ve been wasting time
on a position that was bound to die
Arrive at home set your briefcase down
turn on the news and turn down the sound
but you can’t stop this suffering
Cause television is one way to go
the other way is the open road
Over Years and Miles
Sometimes I miss this
Help me out and I’ll give you anything just please stop this suffering
I wish that I could get through to you
I’m so comfortable
Deliberation
I saw this in a movie, I saw this in a dream, I saw this in a place I’ve never even seen
You have got religion and we have got TV,
the only problem here is neither one of us is free
Now you drink to get away, and everyone just sounds the same
and every time, your right, it’s gone
In a moments notice you can lose your self-esteem,
it’s in this stage of life where your freedom will be reached
Something Unsaid
So they say that there’s no way that you can dictate love
So if she loves him, then she loves him, but I don’t believe she does
Now she’s living a life that’s full of just because
and when she’s drowning she’s looking up but not to rise above
If this change can really change you, then I hope this change is true
I hope you know what you’re getting into, ’cause nothing’s easy when it’s the truth
I always remember, right, and sometimes more and sometimes less then before
But I won’t be the paper you won’t write on ’cause it’s torn
Only To Find
Today I will stay, stay in my place and waste away
‘Cause you can’t trust the truth and now the truth will never do
So I tighten up the noose that’s wrapped around a loosened tooth that needs pulled and pried and soothed
Only to find more abuse
Tonight I dream in blues and in burning cities with silver moons
Now this heartland tomb is having multiple seizures in the emergency room
Fear, it comes in loops and in the strangers that appear in every group
So when you feel you’re doomed, just know that you can rely on all of us to help you through
Different But The Same
There’s a woman in the room, with a soul that’s black and blue
she lay down next to me, just to watch me breathe
there’s trouble on her mind, trouble all the time, she’s got something left to find
A picture painted twice, will never be as kind
as a photo of a life that can change a wrong to right
trouble on my mind, trouble all the time, I’ve got something left to find
A soldier in the sand, can learn to be a man
and a man can take a life, but can he learn to sleep at night
there’s trouble on his mind, trouble all the time, he’s got something left to find
Everyone is from a place within the sun
a chemical combines with the love of the divine
Trouble on our mind, trouble all the time, we’ve got something left to find
Leaving and Returning
I boarded a train and fell into the lost and found
that’s where I stayed until the next town
the conductor was strange and he tried to help me out
but I just couldn’t pay me way back out
You blame me, ya you do, they blame you, ya they do
all of this blame is love and I blame you
So I headed back to the only place I ever knew
arrived there at noon with nothing to do
In the evening it rained and by morning I knew
you’d left on that train the way you do
The story it goes that the conductor was insane
and that train was supposed to return that day
In the papers they wrote of a tragedy so great
that no one survived no one remained
